good bye and good luck

#Card #craft

i found out this week that a work colleague was leaving at the end of the week, they hadn't been with us for very long, but i still wanted to make them a card. i found it really tricky to find a goodbye/ good luck image for a man, but saw this image and thought it was perfect for the job, i layered it onto grey card, found some coordinated blue and off white card, hid the join with poundland ribbon, and used a daisy and dandelion greeting, i'm just annoyed a forgot to emboss the the blue card with swiss dots, because that was the plan! the next morning i added glossy accents and 3 gems.

Blue and green should never be seen......

#Card #craft

I.m not sure if the title is true, but it is a rule i follow usually..... But onto the card, this is a pyramage topper. i bought a box set from cheshire oaks last year and over christmas i made them all up, to save time when making cards. This one seemed perfect for my brother. i have layered the image on a die cut scalloped circle, the dp is from papermania's capsule collection, the ribbon is, as usual, from poundland and a Daisy and dandelion greeting. oh and then i added 3 gems, because i had to!

themed wedding card

#Card #craft
You may remember me making a sorry card for my friend who is getting married over Easter, well here is her wedding card.......
The theme is denim, leather and animal print. I've tried to keep it simple with leopard print paper from Anna Griffin's Peyton collection, i bought this in florida, 2010 and this is the 1st time i've used it........
the image is a lilli of the valley die cut and i have added glossy accents to the glasses. the red and black card are from my stash, the ribbon is from poundland and i used a fiskers border punch on the black card.

sharing lemonade

Card
I love my brother in law, nearly as much as my husband! They are so similar, but my BIL is slightly taller, ginger  but slightly balding, the husband has brown hair and sticky out ears. ( I sell them well!) when i saw this image from LOTV i had to buy it as i made me think this could be them when they were little ( i'm not sure they shared food though!) I have no idea where the brown card and green dp are from, but the brown dp is from claire curds paper stack. i added 3 card candies and a daisy and dandelion greeting.

super special mummy

#Card #craft
#Card #craft

Here is a card for my amazing mummy. she has survived skin cancer and 2 brain tumours and is now waiting to have her hip replaced, but she never just sits there and does nothing even if it sends her dizzy, causes her pain or gives her a migraine. She doesn't like a lot of fuss ( she's a CAS type of woman!) hence the lack of embellishments.
The image is a tulip topper layers on silver card, and then i have embossed some white card with flowers and layered on pink card. The greeting is from craftwork cards and the ribbon is from poundland.

Mothers day has come around so quickly!

#Card #craft
I only realised how close mothers day was after reading another blog! so i made 2 cards yesterday and here is one of them!
I have used a tulip topper (bought this time last year!) and free my minds eye papers (many years ago), layered it in gold card, cream ribbon and a daisy and dandelion greeting. i haven't really known how to use the MME papers before, but i really like the look of this card, so i may use them again soon! ( try not to notice the wonky panel!)

Book review- getting over Mr right, chrissie manby

Back reading authors I enjoy reading is good! Although the main character, Ashleigh, was extreme at times, the book was well written and funny. I could imagine this being made into a film. In fact would say it is like the secret diary if a shopaholic (which I really enjoyed despite not enjoying the latest installment). The best friend was an excellent supporting character as were ashleigh's family. I did spot the ending halfway through the book, but that didn't make the book any less enjoyable! I really recommend chrissie nanny as an author.
I give this book 3.5/5.

dirty thirty

#Card #craft

A nice clean and simple card for my friend's 30th birthday. the 30 was taken from one of my cards last year, it ripped a bit under the gem on the '0' so i added gems to cover it! layered it on nestabilities, stamped a swirly corner stamp off the edge of the card for a clean edge, i then added black glitter to the flowers. finally i added 3 black gems.

DIY SOS

#Card #craft

I don't get to make many younger boy cards, with 7 nieces and no nephews! i have made this card for my little monster of cousin. The paper is the oldest thing in my collection, i bought them to make male cards, but actually they are pretty rubbish and barely usable, but i can't bring myself to get rid of them! The image came with some squares i bought from Lilli of the valley. the card is from my stash, and i used a scalloped circle nestability. The random brown thing came off my dad's drill/ sander/ diy things, i saw it on the floor and rescued it! the greeting is a daisy and dandelion one.

leaving on a jet plane

#Card #craft

This is a very sad card, my SIL and her family are all moving to the UAE, for her husband's job. I didn't want to say goodbye, or good luck, so i thought this sentiment would be perfect. the greeting is by daisy and dandelion. I have no idea where the rest of the elements are from! the paper i found loose, the ribbon is an off cut, and the card is just from my stash. i kept the rest simple and decided not to add glitter or add gems.

new BIL card

#Card #craft

another Lilli of the valley image! Think i should have either used a smaller card or a bigger image...... oh well i know for next time. The greeting is from craftwork cards and the paper is from papermania's it's a man's world. the rest of the card is all from my stash and the card candies were originally white, but i coloured them red. oh and for a change i used a kraft card.

Local SIL's card

#Card #craft
Finally a card i love! I have used a Lill of the valley square, and glittered the wings with stickles, i the scalloped the edge of some white card, and wrapped blue ribbon around and finished it with a knot of blue ribbon, the DP is from my stash ( probably free with a magazine). The flowers are from wild roses, then gems are from my stash and the greeting is from daisy and dandelion.

MIL's Birthday card

#Card #craft
I'm unsure about this card, i think it's the dp is very busy and i'm not a lover of patterns at the best of times, and this has lots of pattern! It's from DCWV sweet stack.( bought in 2010!)
I printed out a black and white image from a Me to You CD. i coloured 3 of the plant pots pink to match the backing card. i then die cut a flower and used a pearl in the middle of it, i used the same pink card across the middle of the card. The greeting is a daisy and dandelion one.

Book review- take a chance on me, Jill mansell.

Another Jill mansell book! Another enjoyable read. Yes mansell never rocks the boat with her stories, but this book was well written with great main and sub plots all running consecutively. Cleo is the main character in the book, and all the other characters are linked to her in some way. I enjoyed watching her relationship with johnny unfold, and although the ending was predictable, the sub plots kept it from all being predictable. Overall I give this book 3.5/5.
