card for my far flung sister in law (well she will be....)

#Card #craft

Here is a quickly made card, and it shows! the DP and image are all me to you, the greeting is from craftwork cards, the flower (die cut) and card backing are from a card pack i brought back from florida in 2010. the dodgy silver pearls are made using a pearl pen (still not getting the hang of this!). and you can't see it but there is glossy accents on his little noise.

a 'super' card

#Card #craft
this is not how the card started out, but i like it! i originally had a superman image and planned to use this up the side, but the image ripped :( so i continued with this and i love it! i just googled superman comic strip and then resized it in word, printed, layered and stuck it on! it's slightly wonky, but never mind! the greeting is a papermania one.

not going to make the wedding :(

Here is a simple card for my friend as i am unable to attend her wedding. it will be her 3rd marriage , so they have decided on a denim/ leather/ animal print themed wedding. unfortunately I'm on holiday so can't make it (you've got to book me early!).
the card consists of zebra print card from an animal print pack, glitter ribbon reduced in hobbycraft after halloween, white card and a craftwork cards greeting.

personalised candle and birdcage

Here is the present that inspired the birdcage birthday card, i have even seen birdcage gift wrap, so i need to get that today!
The birdcage was bought in the boots christmas sale, and then i personalised the candle, printing onto tissue paper and using my heat gun to put it into the candle. nice and simple but effective. hopefully she will love it!

always painting

Here is a card for my brother in law, every time we have been to visit him and his family, he is painting ( or cleaning) so these forever friends images seemed appropriate for him. i've kept it pretty simple, a random bit of ribbon i had, 3 card candies, a craftwork cards greeting and daisy and dandelion dp. i have layered with silver and white card.
it was a real struggle not to include some gems or glitter, but i managed!

a card for jam

here is a card that very nearly made it into the bin several times!!!!! i tried following a sketch and failed, so went simple in the end.
i embossed with swirls and hid the join with ribbon, and then applied diamentes to the end of the swirls, used a craftwork cards greeting, the butterfly is from when i 1st started crafting and then i layered it on white and blue card. not a bad job in the end!

Book Review- Mothers and daughters by Kate Long

I will read a book that i enjoy soon I hope! this was another painful book to finish, with me opting not to read or buying a magazine on my way home from work, rather then endure this. Overall it was readable, but i struggled to find any sympathy for the characters. the daughter was spoilt and immature, the mother appeared to have several issues that she needed to look at sorting out, and the dad was a cheater.
i found it interesting that the book changed it's name from a mothers guide to cheating, I'm assuming that it didn't sell very well or to the right audience. while looking for the image for this post, I read a few comments that i agreed with and i think these are the main reasons the book didn't appeal to me. Why does carol try to persuade her daughter to stay with the cheating husband when she had 20 miserable years of marriage to a cheating husband? It seemed very strange to me and her attachment to her grandchild appeared borderline obsessive. if this issues had been investigated further then i think it would have been more interesting to read rather then annoying.

overall i will give this book 2/5

card for the hubby

Valentine giraffe
So here is probably the least romantic valentines day card you will see, but i love it!
We fed giraffes together on our honeymoon, so they are now one of our favourite animals. He bought me this stamp last year as i kept looking at it and never buying it. i do love it, but who else could i use it for and now i've used it for him, can i use it for him again? anyway, i bought the matching paper pack from ebay, and here you are!, added a bit of ribbon and a few card candys and a card is born!

Book Review- Solo by Jill Mansell

I skipped ahead to this book as i really wanted to enjoy a book after the last two (see previous reviews). and it turned out i'd read the book already! but i continued with it as i was in the bath when i started it! I enjoyed it much more than the previous 2 books, but found some of the plot lines difficult to believe, the stairs, tessa's lack of believe in her ability, ross's attitude to women and Holly's dumbness. over all it was a good read, but not her best book.

3 stars out of 5.

30 day shred- 3 days left

i have been doing the shred still, but just not managing to update you with my efforts, sorry :( but i have 3 days left, but i think i'll carry on with level 3 for a bit longer and try and do the advanced moves. it has been slow going with all this cold weather and i've have to start doing it every other day, as my knees won't play at the moment. i've even had to cut out the rock star jumps, and replace them with super fast star jumps instead. the squats hurt as well but i really want thinner legs so i'm working through the pain on those. i'll be back on it monday night, but i last did it on thursday as we have family over. i'll update you again soon, i'm off to go take a pretty snow picture x

SIL birthday card

Continuing my 'use up old stash 2012' challenge, i remembered i had bought the Cancer research crafting pack last year, loving the images, but when sitting down to use then, being lost for ideas as i usually make 'cute' cards. so i filed them away, to think about. During the week i knew i wanted to make this card for my SIL, and i knew we had bought her a decorative birdcage, so i had a eureka moment and remembered this peel off. And actually off the peel off sheet, it doesn't look tacky, which was a worry. The pack also came with some papers, that matched some card i was struggling to use ( not keen on the colour, it isn't girly or pastel) so a little ribbon, silver card and some pearls later..... we have quite a stylish card (well i think so!!!)
now for the challenges

just us girls- sketch
charisma cardz- vintage
crafts us crazy- anything goes
do you stack up-anything goes
divas by design- anything goes
whimsical designs- bringing out the old
